Scilab es un entorno de trabajo para realizar cálculos numéricos especialmente destinados a ingenierías.
El programa contiene cientos de funciones matemáticas dando la posibilidad de añadir las propias si las escribimos en lenguajes como C o Fortran. Las funciones se pueden mostrar gráficamente en 2D e incluso animarse en tres dimensiones. También permite crear simulaciones ODE y DAE.
Otras utilidades destacables las encontramos en el modelador de sistemas dinámicos híbridos y la optimización diferenciable y no diferenciable. Además, procesa señales y genera estadísticas.

Scilab is free open source software for numerical computation providing a powerful computing environment for engineering and scientific applications.
Scilab includes hundreds of mathematical functions. It has a high level programming language allowing access to advanced data structures, 2-D and 3-D graphical functions. A large number of functionalities is included in Scilab: control, simulation, optimization, signal processing... Xcos, the hybrid dynamic systems modeler and simulator is provided with the platform.
Scilab is free software distributed under CeCILL license (GPL compatible). It comes with source code, help and English user manuals. The availability of source code is of great interest in research or for strategic applications.

Esta muy bueno y es super útil, pero esta version 5.3.0 tiene un error al ejecutar la funcion plot, por lo que se cierra todo el programa. Sugiero que sigan usando la version 5.2.2 que no da problemas si quieren graficar algo.
